Our Tier A through AAAA fabrics cover the overwhelming majority of the suits, tuxedos, jackets, and shirts we make.
They include thousands of fabrics across a wide range of weights, colors, patterns, textures, and price points. For most clients, those tiers offer everything they need to build an exceptional garment.
But they are not the limit of what we carry.
For clients looking for something beyond our standard collection, we also offer what we call Market Tier Fabrics.
Market Tier includes luxury, specialty, and exceptional cloths from some of the world’s most respected mills and fabric houses, including:
Zegna, Scabal, Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Cerruti, Drago, Hardy Minnis, Huddersfield, Vitale Barberis Canonico, Marzoni, Stylbiella, and others.
What Are Market Tier Fabrics?
Once you move beyond our standard fabric tiers, prices begin to vary too dramatically to fit neatly into an A, AA, AAA, or AAAA category.
One collection might contain a specialty wool that adds a modest premium.
Another may be a pure cashmere, ultra-fine wool, rare blend, or limited-production cloth that changes the price of the garment substantially.
At that point, creating more tiers simply stops making sense.
So rather than invent Tier AAAAA, AAAAAA, and keep going, we group these fabrics into one category:
Market Tier.
Each collection is priced individually based on the cost of the cloth.
Why Do Some Fabrics Cost So Much More?
The price of a fabric can be influenced by a number of things.
Fiber
Some fabrics use unusually fine wool, cashmere, mohair, silk, or other specialty fibers.
The raw material itself may be significantly more expensive before the weaving process even begins.
Fineness
As wool becomes finer, it generally becomes softer, lighter, and more refined to the touch.
That can create a beautiful garment, but finer fibers can also be more delicate.
Weaving and Finishing
Some fabrics require more complicated weaving, finishing, or specialized production techniques.
This can create unique texture, depth, luster, movement, or hand.
Limited Production
Certain collections are produced in smaller quantities or for a limited period of time.
Some fabrics simply become harder to source.
The Mill or Collection
Sometimes a client wants a particular cloth because they know the mill, love a specific collection, or simply fall in love with one fabric in the book.
There is nothing wrong with that.
At this level, the fabric itself can become part of the reason for commissioning the garment.
Does a More Expensive Fabric Make a Better Suit?
No.
This is one of the most important things to understand about fine tailoring.
A more expensive fabric does not automatically create a better suit.
The design process, measurements, cut, fittings, construction, and alterations do not suddenly become more important because you selected a $4,000 fabric instead of a $1,500 fabric.
What changes is the material we are designing with.
In fact, some of the most expensive fabrics we carry are also some of the most delicate.
A beautiful cashmere suit may feel extraordinary, but it may not be the smartest choice for someone who plans to wear the garment three times a week.
A more durable wool at a lower price point may actually be the better fabric for that client.
That is why we never recommend a fabric simply because it costs more.
The right fabric is the one that makes sense for the garment and the way you plan to wear it.
Then Why Choose a Market Tier Fabric?
Because sometimes practicality is not the only objective.
Sometimes you are creating:
a wedding tuxedo
a special dinner jacket
a one-of-one design
an anniversary garment
a gala or red-carpet look
a coat you plan to own for decades
or simply a suit where you want the most exceptional cloth you can find
In those situations, the fabric may be part of the experience.
A Market Tier fabric may offer:
exceptional softness
unusual drape
greater depth of color
distinctive texture
rare fiber blends
highly refined finishing
limited-production patterns
specialty seasonal weights
a specific mill or collection
or simply a feel that cannot be replicated at a lower price point
For some clients, that matters.
For others, it doesn’t.
Our Standard Tiers Are Not “Entry-Level”
This distinction is important.
Our Tier A through AAAA fabrics are not lesser versions of what we do.
They are our core curated fabric collection, and they include many fabrics from excellent mills and cloth houses.
They are where the majority of our clients should shop.
A client selecting Tier A or AA may be prioritizing durability and everyday wear.
A client selecting AAA or AAAA may want additional softness, refinement, or a more luxurious hand.
A client selecting Market Tier may simply want access to something rarer or more specialized.
The quality of our tailoring remains the same.
The design process remains the same.
The fittings remain the same.
The level of attention remains the same.
Market Tier expands what is available to you. It does not determine the quality of the tailoring you receive.
The Same Fabrics Found at the Highest Levels of Luxury Tailoring
One reason we created the Market Tier category is because there is a perception that the highest-end fabrics are only available through extremely expensive tailoring houses.
That is not the case.
We work with many of the same mills and fabric houses used throughout the luxury tailoring world.
The difference is in how we choose to structure our pricing.
Some tailoring companies begin at a much higher price point because their business model is built around selling premium fabric as the standard entry point.
We prefer to give clients more choice.
If a durable, beautiful wool is the right fabric for your garment, we will show you that.
If you want to explore a rare cashmere or a specialty cloth from one of the world’s most recognized mills, we can show you that too.
You should not have to overspend simply to access good tailoring.
And you should not have to go somewhere else if you want access to the highest end of the fabric market.

How Market Tier Pricing Works
Because the cost of Market Tier fabrics can vary significantly, these garments are priced individually by collection.
Some Market Tier suits may be only moderately above our standard tiers.
Others, particularly those using rare or extremely expensive fibers such as pure cashmere, can be significantly higher.
The price of the garment includes our full process:
design consultation
fabric selection
measurements
cut and styling decisions
fittings
alterations
adjustments
Tax is additional.
The cloth changes.
The standard of our work does not.
Who Should Consider Market Tier?
Market Tier is ideal for the client who:
has a specific mill or collection in mind
wants an exceptionally soft or rare cloth
wants cashmere, mohair, or specialty fibers
is commissioning a significant wedding or formalwear garment
wants a more unusual color, pattern, or texture
values the fabric itself as part of the experience
wants access to the highest level of cloth without changing tailors
It is not something every client needs.
And that is exactly why we keep it separate from our standard tiers.
